Bhagavan Shri Sathya Sai Baba-The Information Superhighway

“I do not give speeches; My talks use more of the sambhashana (spiritual teaching) type; I want that you should follow every word of what I say with reverent attention, for your anandam (bliss) is my ashram, your joy is my food. …You should listen carefully and take to heart all that I say.”
~Sathya Sai Baba

Dear brothers and sisters,

In the United States, as all over the world, we have recently been hearing the term “Information Superhighway.” As Sai devotees, however, we have had the ultimate information superhighway since we came to know our beloved Swami. Unfortunately, we forget this.

The highway that Swami is providing for us is one that will speed us along the road of life to that very destination that He has in mind for each of us. Other avenues can be taken to reach a destination, but His gift of showing us the path is a rare one. If we do follow every word that He says, we are sure to accomplish much; the less we follow, the longer it will take us to arrive at our destination.

I humbly pray that I am on this highway to God. I have been a devotee for some 15 years now, and since I can remember I have drawn on Swami’s counsel, and blessings to give me strength to accomplish my life’s tasks. I know that if I had not been a Sai devotee, my life would not be worth much.

Sathya Sai Baba is the originator of Divine discourses, educational seminars, service seminars, and more, mostly dedicated to you and me. Do we listen or do we pretend to listen, bouncing His words back and forth and praising His Divine glory? If we say less, praise less, and do more, our actions will speak louder than words.

“…You should listen carefully and take to heart all that I say.” One day at Prashanti Nilayam Baba walked into the Mandirin all His glory and said very softly, yet firmly, “Do your duty or get out!” He repeated this about five times. Who in God’s name was He speaking to? I knew that He was not speaking to me, or was He? He was speaking to me and you and everybody who could hear, who would care to listen, and even those who were not in an audible range.

His words had a very profound effect on me. I cannot live with myself if my duty is not accomplished. The penalty is too great. If l lose Swami, I lose everything that my life stands for. I can no longer sit back idly and expect Swami to take care of everything for me. I know that if I give 150%, He will kick in whatever it takes to help me get the job done.

We are inherently Divine, no different from Swami, although we do not realize this. As Sai devotees blessed with a silent mission to carry forth our Father’s words and translate them into venerable actions, we are human beings with a special job. Not by mere words, but by true and faithful actions, we allow the Lord’s wisdom to permeate the world. We too are Divine information superhighways.

Lots of love to all of you, and a great thank you to our beloved Father, Sathya Sai Baba, the most magnificent Superhighway.
