Baba’s Voice

What an enchanting, wonderful voice Sai Baba has! It is indeed the voice of God, one that speaks directly to the soul, inspires and is imbued with joy, peace, strength, purity, love, and power. No one who has heard Baba’s voice can forget it. Its sacred sweetness forever rings in the ears. The mind is always attracted by sweet sounds. The voice charged with divine power is one of the most effective tools by way of which the mind can be made to withdraw from external influences and become one-pointed. Baba’s voice being that of the universal eternal heart releases spiritual forces that set every heart into vibration.

It is a voice inexpressibly rich with subtle emotions of divine love and sweetness, one that reverberates with the joy of self-realization. Like the musical vibrations of Lord Krishna’s flute, it penetrates the soul of the devotee. The richness of Baba’s voice, the grace and ease with which it can be raised to any pitch combined with the unbounded spiritual power with which it is invested, make it the most perfect and wonderful voice in the world. It kindles reverence and divine love and saturates one’s whole being with peace and bliss.

His kind and loving words touch the very core of one’s being and serve to dispel the darkness of ignorance. Baba speaks gently, sweetly, soothingly and in measured words only. His voice is one of the most effective means by which He elevates us to sublime heights. The words of wisdom that issue from His lips bear the stamp of divine authority blended with humility. His appealing and inspiring words tear down the veil of worldliness. His magnetic oratory spellbinds devotees. The divine message conveyed through Baba’s soul-penetrating voice leaves a lasting impression on the listeners. There is an ethereal quality to His voice that makes us feel detached from this world and close to God. His wonder-working voice manages, in a mysterious way, to force open the inner chambers of the heart and exert control over the mind.

Baba’s songs are a rare blend of rhythm and melody. Listening to His melodious voice one forgets all the cares and distractions of worldly existence, and feels, if for a moment, as though the soul has been released from the prison of the body in which it is encased to enjoy the company of the Beloved. Listening to His delightful songs, one is immersed in divine bliss. His songs epitomize the essence of spiritual practice, philosophy, Vedanta, and devotion.
