Divine in the Dream

In March 1988, my mother was diagnosed with a form of malignant cancer. I felt very sad and almost lost consciousness when I heard the news. When the doctor told her about it she suffered unimaginable shock.

The date for the operation was fixed for April 28th. Needless to say, my mother and I prayed to Bhagavan for his blessings from the bottom of our hearts. We really had no other resort.

Photo of Sathya Sai BabaThe operation started at 9 a.m. At that time, I was sitting at my kitchen table in my house. The table was connected to the shelves that housed the dishes. We had placed Baba’s picture on the sliding glass door of the shelves.

When the hands of the clock came to 9, I noticed a noise coming from the glass on which Bhagavan’s picture was placed. The glass was vibrating with the sound. I was quite surprised but I did not know what I should do. I began to feel restless. After a short time, a thought came to me that this must be the sign from Bhagavan telling me, “Don’t worry. I am here.”

Instantly all my anxiety disappeared. The noise also disappeared. Then I went to the hospital to see my mother. Though the operation took longer than expected, I did not worry a bit. The operation was successful.

While lying in bed after the surgery, my mother had a dream. She dreamt that she was wrapped in a white blanket and somebody gave her a fragrant bouquet of white roses. She told me that in the dream, she was very relaxed and happy as if she were wrapped in soft clouds in the flower garden. The atmosphere was very peaceful. She told me that after waking up she remembered that the person who gave her the bouquet was Sathya Sai Baba himself.

Now she is enjoying good health, troubled only by some minor ailments. Earlier this year, a small tumor was found around her throat, but the doctor, after taking a biopsy, said that it was not cancer.

Thus we are living peacefully, feeling Baba’s presence very near and around us. We are very happy and grateful for Bhagavan’s protection that He always showers on us.
