Bag the Habit

The Region 2 EnviroCare Wing is launching “Bag the Habit,” a new initiative encouraging Sai families to remember their reusable bags whenever they shop.

It is a small habit with a potentially large impact. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Americans generated about 4.2 million tons of plastic bags, sacks, and wraps in 2018. More than 3 million tons ended up in landfills, while only about 10 percent was recycled.

“Bag the Habit” asks us to make bringing reusable bags as routine as taking our keys or wallet. Keep them in the car, near the front door, or wherever you are most likely to remember them before leaving for the store.

Centers and Groups are encouraged to find simple and fun ways to remind one another, and members can invite family and friends to join in. Every reusable bag we carry means one less plastic bag entering circulation.

One small habit, practiced by many people, can make a difference for Mother Earth.

Take a Bag. Make an Impact.
