Birthday Wishes

The moon shines,
the sun waves its rays
to those unreachable milky ways.
Stars flicker flirtatiously,
Gazing at each event spontaneously.

In sudden commotion,
stirring its calm emotion;
Horse’s hoofs echo in a distant horizon.
I see the chariot’s wheels sparkling,
watching how swiftly they conquer
the mysterious vastness.

Morning Sadhana

Before the sun had risen
and the moon still glowed
through the branches above the horizon
my Lord came to me

I quietened my mind
as best as I could
and offered devotions
offered by countless souls
on innumerable mornings

In the silence so sweet
in the darkness so alive
oh unspeakable joy
my Lord came to me

Now the kettle is on
the cars begin their rush hour din
and my son stumbles around his room
groggy with sleep but dancing
to the music from his clock radio

For some blessed rhyme and reason
I’ve become the richest man in the world
silent shimmering Pearl of Peace
you have come to rest in me
oh my Love oh my Lord
You have come to me.

Sai Avatar

With love
With truth
And with compassion towards all
You conquer our soul and heart

With love
With truth
And with peace
You lead the world forward
Ever with examples
Of your own life

He Provided the Spring

Enjoy the spring
Forget about life for a while
yes—go ahead
see the blue sky
and tell me where it ends
listen to a bird sing
and tell me who
taught her such a song
look at the moon
and tell me how it got there
see the smile of Sai—
and I tell you—
it puts all to shame

Such is the Love of the ONER—
Before a second
Such is the Divinity of He—
who caused the Spring
Such is the unmentionable Sweetness of Sai
Who taught the birds to sing
The waves to roll
And the moon to glow

Enjoy the Spring—such as Her Loveliness—
The expanse of a blue sky
Ocean waves—birds on high
A new moon and the smile
Of Sri Sathya Sai

One and The Same

They have been
Giving Thee
Different names and fames,
When for all along
Thou hast always remained
One and the same!

Thou hast revealed
Thyself at different times,
Under different circumstances,
Yet all along
Thou hast remained
One and the same!

Be it a temple, a mosque,
A cathedral, a synagogue,
It is Thee and Thee alone.
They all look and search,
They all pray and prostrate,
They all beg and confess,
Yet all along
Thou hast remained
One and the same!

                      ~Embee Mahtani

I surrender to Sai

No words can describe my gratitude to you
Who’s always been there guiding me through
I’m ready for whatever lies ahead
The rest of my life is offered to you instead

Worldly pursuits has become meaningless
For I’ve tasted Your divine sweetness
‘Tis a blessing I’m glad to pass along
To whoever yearns for the “Sathya Sai” song

Mother’s Love

Oh Divine Mother
Omniscient Queen of light
Like rivers flowing to the ocean
Your children return to you
And as you receive them one by one
Through Your grace and precious spirit
Only love remains
even for the most resistant of heart
And as your sacred form
takes shape as the wind
Your mysterious ways gently kiss
the cheek of our existence
And as the story of life unfolds
throughout all time and beyond,
You bless us
with your supreme and infinite wisdom
Oh Sai
Within the gift of Your selfless embrace,
as You begin to reveal
The truth of who we are
All my pain and fear release
And I begin to realize
Eternally yours I am
So I sing to You…
I simply sing to You
