Small Teachings

No one can liberate you, for no one has bound you. You hold on to the nettle of worldly pleasures and you weep in pain. The kite is pursued as long as it carries the fish in its beak. It tries twisting and turning in the sky to dodge the crows that seek to snatch the fish until it finally tires and drops it. At that moment it is free. It can then sit peacefully on a tree, preening its wings and enjoying its happiness. So give up your attachment to the senses. Then grief and worry can harass you no more. You, too, can enjoy happi-ness when you drop the fish you have in your beak.
