Secure Lord’s Grace

The supreme message of the life of the Avatars is the uniqueness of the Love Principle. This message is all that the world needs. Lord Krishna is an embodiment of love. It is strong, brilliant and unbreakable like diamond. It is extremely precious. This love can only be understood through love. If you want to secure such Divine love, your love for God must be equally strong. You can cut a diamond only with a diamond. Likewise, love begets love. Hatred begets hatred, jealousy begets jealousy, and anger begets anger. If you want to foster love, you must get rid of hatred, jealousy, and anger.

Divine Discourse, Vol. 13 Ch 2, Jan 6, 1975.

Worldly life is full of sorrow and suffering. Lord Krishna said so in the Gita—”Anityam asukham loke imam prapya bhajasvamaam” meaning the world is ephemeral and full of misery; contemplate on Me constantly. Having taken human birth, you must find fulfillment in life. You must pursue a noble path. Do not get inflated by praise; be above praise and blame. Foster peace. Where is peace? It is not available in the market ready for sale! Peace is to be found within you. In the world outside you find only ‘pieces’.

Thought Of The Day –August 1, 2004

Angavathi and anyavathi are two of the many paths of adoring the lord. The universal being is the fire, wind, sun, moon, and all else. He is the breath that sustains life and the rain that feeds the plants that provide sustenance. So He can be adored as having graciously assumed all these beneficent forms. This approach, through the benign manifestations of angas, is the angavathi path. Anga means a limb or a feature. Adoring Divinity by symbolizing a certain facet of the universal being is the anyavathi path. Anya meaning the other or the appurtenances; Eashwara or Shiva (the facet of dissolution) has the trident symbolizing in its three prongs the past, present, and future. Krishna, the manifestation of universal love, bears a flute that is the symbol of the egoless and desireless seeker. In the Anyavathi path seekers meditate on these pleasing personifications and the significance of the symbols and adore the Divine in the delight that wells up in their hearts.

Sathya Sai Vahini, Ch 23, “Modes of Worship”

“God resides in the heart of all beings” says Lord Krishna in the Gita. He is not to be found especially in cities like Amarnath, Kashi, Tirupati, Kedar or Gokarna alone. Just as every drop of the ocean has the salty taste, the composition and the name of the ocean, so too every single being has the divine taste, composition, and the name of the Lord. Only you do not realize it so clearly. The river realizes itself by reaching the sea; man realizes himself by merging in the Absolute. The space encased in the pot must become one with the space that traverses the entire universe. This can be achieved by the negation of the attachment, which is just an artificial creation of the deluded mind. The inferior status of manhood that now satisfies you, must give place to the status of reality of God that is the true status.

Divine Discourse, Feb. 11, 1964.

Thirst for Krishna, to see Him, to hear Him, to listen to His flute, for installing Him in the heart and mind, and for grasping His reality through the intellect—this thirst is most conducive to peace and joy. Devotion to Krishna is the chain by which the monkey mind can be fastened and subdued. The word Krish means to attract (as in aakarshana). Lord Krishna attracts your mind toward Him and turns it away from sensory desires that torment you. He satisfies the deepest thirst of all beings for peace, joy, and wisdom. Hence thirst for Krishna is a sign of health in the spiritual field. Repetition of the name Krishna is useless, unless the contemplation of the glory of Krishna starts purifying your character. The grace of the Lord is very powerful and is endowed on the deserving alone. Hence begin today to sublimate your character saturated with piety and devotion. Then you will secure the Lord’s grace.
