Secret of Liberation
Search for the consciousness—the state of consciousness, which is unaffected by gusts of passion, which is pure, which is free from egoism or the desire to possess. Then alone can you experience the light, and illumine the path for others.
Baba the Breath of Sai, pg 276
In order to see the moon, does one need a flashlight? It is by the light of the moon that one sees the moon. In like fashion, if one wishes to see God, it is by love that is the light of God, that one may see Him.
Conversations with Sathya Sai Baba, pg 88
When truth is joined with love, that is the light of God. It is not outside light, like the electric light bulb. It is inner light…. When in a dark room you are looking with a flashlight, everything can be seen except one thing. You do not see yourself. With your eyes you are seeing, but if the flashlight is turned on you, the objects of the room are not seen. As long as your attention is on the light that lights the world, you will not be enjoying God’s light.
My Baba and I, pg 209
The only light in this world that does not get extinguished is the light of the Self, the atma jyoti.
Discourses on Bhagavad Gita, pg 122
Even he, whom you were treating as your worst rival has the self same light in his innermost heart. Know that the same jyoti of light is in all.
Sathya Sai Speaks Vol. 5, pg 303
You are light. The same light is found in others also. The body drops away and you are the light. That is liberation.
Conversations with Sathya Sai Baba, pg 181
Baba describes liberation as follows: “When the entire creation in and around him becomes a blissful love and light-emitting experience, then the sadhaka [spiritual aspirant] loses the limited consciousness of his individual entity, transcends the peripheries of personality to experience at all times through all his senses the blissful immanent Divinity which was always latent in himself.”
My Baba and I, pg 90
To become completely detached, it is not necessary to grow matted hair, wear ochre robes, and torture the body into skin and bone. It is enough if you do all acts as dedicated to the Lord, without any desire. This is the secret of liberation.
Gita Vahini, pg 154
